As I type this, at 6:39 AM, Aidan has been awake for somewhere over 3 hours.  Almost all of that time he spent in his crib, playing happily, playing imaginary games with his stuffed giraffe.  Right now, he is insanely chipper, playing with his colours and words puzzle.  He’s soliciting high-fives for matching the coloured objects to the appropriate coloured word.  Chattering the whole time.

I hope that the inevitable crash doesn’t affect Gwen’s sanity…

Aidan received a package of underwear from Grandma and Grandpa recently. Unfortunately, he didn’t quite get what they were for…

This past weekend was the Canada Day weekend. It was also Lorraine’s (Nana’s) few days visiting with us.

On Saturday, we went to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary down on Westham Island in Ladner. I’ve blogged about this before. It was a wonderful bright sunny day, and Aidan was finally old enough to fully enjoy the various birds. The big attraction (for kids, at least) at Reifel is the ducks. Hundreds and hundreds of ducks. And geese, but they’re much more annoying and aggressive.  You can tell from the photos and video how much fun the place is now.

Aidan loves playing in water. Whether it’s with his sand and water table on the balcony, or at the swimming pool or beach, he thoroughly enjoys it. What with the hot summer weather we’ve been having lately, Gwen bought a plastic collapsible pool for him to play in. Tonight we set it up in our porch, and you’ll be able to tell from the pictures how it went:

PS: no geocaching this weekend. Well, we did pick up one cache yesterday (on our way back from MEC), but it was just on a whim (since it was close).
