So, tonight it started snowing. It’s supposed to snow all night and all through tomorrow too, likely making this the largest snowfall Vancouver’s seen in 5 or 6 years. 20-30 cm expected.

So, this makes it Aidan’s first snowfall! We’ve taken him into the mountains last winter, so he at least has seen snow before, but not falling from the sky.

Coincidentally, Gwen bought him a snow suit last night. I say coincidentally because this snow wasn’t forecast last night. Anyway, we bundled him up and went out into the night for him to experience this strange phenomenon.

Heading out into the first snow fall

Snow falling at 7th and Spruce

He watched the snow falling from the doorway initially, just staring at it. Once we got going and out walking, he seemed to thoroughly enjoy it, chatting on the whole walk down to Choklit Park, and back.

I took some video too, but it didn’t turn out. That explains the small number of photos too. Oh well. Hopefully we can get some video and better pictures tomorrow.

Ok, I know you now have “Black Socks” going around in your head. So do I, but in my head I am rewriting the lyrics to describe something Aidan did this morning.

Ok, here goes:

Pink Socks,
They always look Girly
The longer you wear they the warmer you get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
but, Aidan keeps saying “I won’t steal them yet.”

Pink Socks,
They always look girly,
The longer you wear them the warmer you get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
Now, Aidan’s decided “I’ll take what I can get.”

Pink Socks,
They always look girly,
The longer you wear them the warmer you get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
Now Aidan’s stole them, I’ll be cold in a bit.

Pink Socks,
They used to look girly,
The longer he’ll wear them the warmer he’ll get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
I know he is practicing, he’ll pull them on yet.

Pink Socks,
They used to look girly,
The longer he wears them the warmer he gets.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
I know he is thinking, “Yes, I did it.”

ALL BY MYSELF!!

New shoes and socks and he is a walking fiend.

On Saturday we tried again to find glasses and a few items (like a dress for the wedding) for all of us. We struck out for me but managed to get Anthony a nice fall jacket and a new pair of sneakers/hikers for Aidan. He seems to really like them and has been walking much more since he has been wearing them. We still haven’t been able to get anymore than a couple of steps on video but we figure by the time we are in Nova Scotia Aidan will be running.

Aidan still is climbing more and more and really wants the telephone. We also have to be really careful to push in all the chairs or in two seconds he will be on top of the table.

OK. We have our first observed sighting of Aidan taking independent, free-standing steps. Two of them, left-foot, right-foot. I bet he didn’t notice.

I sure did. Sadly Momma didn’t but I’m sure this is the beginning of the end.

Not much to say. It happened yesterday, after I got home from work. He wanted to get from the couch to the entertainment system, and instead of plopping down and crawling the short distance, he let go of the couch, *walked* the two steps, and then held on to the glass door of the entertainment system. I doubt he thought about it.

Clearly this is an indication, though, that he *can* walk, when he choses to do so.

It hasn’t happened again, but we’re keeping the video camera charged just in case.
