Twitter Weekly Updates for 2009-12-07
- Landlord wants us to give strata handyman key and unrestricted unannounced access to our suite ("he won't knock"). Comments about legality? #
- Thanks @bgrier @jeffbachman @brightwhite @providentmike @gnb @erinlouise for responses. Have reminded landlord about Resident'l Tenancy Act. #
- I've also asked questions about status of handyman re: bonded, insured, etc (thanks @bgrier). That wasn't primary concern, but good q's! #
- Yay! New Tweetdeck is out, and it supports lists! http://bit.ly/6V4Okx #
- RT @Stv: Reminder! Come to the Vancouver Foodbank Fundraiser Tweetup Dec 2, 5pm Library Square Public House http://bit.ly/52ZDFb for RSVP #
- So I unfollowed a bunch of people yesterday. Today TwitDiff tells me about who reciprocated the unfollow. Very interesting. #
- The type of people who unfollow b/c I unfollowed? Don't really want them following me anyway. #WinWin #
- I mean, are their egos REALLY so fragile? Buh-bye! Don't let the whale eat you on your way out! #
- So #Tweetdeck implements geolocation and the only thing I've learned is that @danudey spends all his time on a beach… #
- Awesome. @nicole013 blogs about politicians trying to gain power by running a campaign of fear http://bit.ly/65sWue #
- Gwen (setting Aidan's magnetic calendar up): "When's Hanukkah?" Me: "That's the day they light the menorah" <– Well I thought it was funny! #
- An great post about toddler-proofing your tech toys by @awsamuel http://bit.ly/8RxN3M Been there, done that. Fortunately we're ready for Q #
- I feel sad for all those who abandoned their 'mo tonight. Time to go #beardcore now guys! #movember #
- After the last update, I think I need to abandon #Tweetdeck. They broke it in too many ways. #
- 1) Lists are too expensive in API vs groups 2) Read tweets don't stay hidden on refresh 3) Tweets read in lists don't get removed from all #
- So, Twitterville, what's the next best desktop client? #
- RT @danudey: @AnthonyFloyd #Febeardary? {I like it. Now to find a charity to support :) } #
- #Irony of the day: Passed hipster on bicycle w/ 2-stroke engine strapped on. He was wearing one of those pollution masks. #
- Hilarious. Kids in schools in Halifax will have 2 weeks off for 2011 CANADA Winter Games, but kids in Vancouver won't for the 2010 OLYMPICS! #
- So much drama. Handyman didn't show up at agree upon time or 2 hours thereafter. "Power plays" by men with fragile egos are so laughable. #
- Holy passive-aggressive, Batman. Power-mad handyman suddenly conciliatory. Gone from "emergency! give me keys!" to "meh, whenever". #
- Tomorrow is Vancouver Christmas Foodbank Fundraiser Tweetup at the Library Square Public House 5-7 pm. http://bit.ly/8lCEzA Are you coming? #
- Aidan's to the point where *he's* reading me books good night. Tonight was Scaredy Squirrel's Trip to the Beach. 90% him, 10% me #ProudDad #
- And while we're talking tweetups, how about joining us down in Stanley Park for a Bright Nights train ride on Dec 18th? http://bit.ly/8s0evP #
- So much easier to catch up on Twitter than Google Reader. Mark All As Read. #
- White-capped mountains // puffs of frosty winter air // Awesome ride to work #twaiku #
- I like the new Hedley album "The Show Must Go". That's right, I said it. It's Bon Jovi pop with Green Day cheekiness. #
- This just in. Amazon.ca won't honour the Mac Mini pricing ($67) that they had on Black Friday. Disappointed but unsurprised. #
- Hey YVR folk: @stumblingmonk wants to know what kind of veggie dog Zog's in Whistler uses. Anyone know? #
- I think @limelitePR is in Whistler right now. Jeanette, if you stop by Zogs Dogs, can you ask them what kind of veggie dog they use? #
- RT @yoyobelly: Old and busted: Movember. New hottness? Decembeard. [You better believe it! Don't forget Febeardary too] #
- On the bus heading to the YVR Foodbank Tweetup #
- Good time tonight at the foodbank tweetup. Thanks to @stv and @yoyomama_van for organizing! #
- Nice to see @stv @yoyomama_van @mojaveband @yoyobelly and meet @604homesguy @pencilneck_sw and others at the YVR Foodbank Tweetup tonight! #
- .@SeanFunk Here's the ultimate version of 'The Chanukah Song'. You'll never believe who's singing it. #
- .@Seanfunk Here's the ultimate version of 'The Chanukah Song'. You'll never believe who's singing it. http://bit.ly/515H0X #
- Heading home. Hope the hills aren't too frosty and I manage to keep the rubber side down. Brrrr. #
- Watching @rickmercer on RMR; he's on a lobster boat in the Bay of Fundy. W/o PFD or survival suit. Surprised the #CBC lets him be so risky. #
- Food Bank Day in Vancouver. Make your way down to the reno'd CBC bldg for a tour, entertainment, + donate or call in and donate! $1 = $3! #
- How quaint. The season of insincere cards from vendors has begun. #WastedOnMe #
- Huh. Int'l delivery by UPS has been scanned in Hong Kong and Ontario today. Was in Fredericton yesterday. Somehow doesn't seem v efficient. #
- Discovered very disturbing Twitter List behaviour: You don't see @'s between ppl on different lists (even tho you're following both!) #
- This means I will have to change how I use Tweetdeck. Again. :( #
- That's actually pretty stupid behaviour. @guy1 is in list A, @guy2 is in list B and guy1 tweets "@guy2 Hi!". It doesn't show in list A. :o #
- That behaviour makes it impossible to follow conversations between ppl on different lists. CRAZY. #
- Venti, venti, venti! http://bit.ly/6ar60L #
- I bet our son can't wait until he's out of the closet. #
- http://twitpic.com/sb5up – Out geocaching for the first time in months #
- Ugh, both boys have another cold. This adversely affects Q's sleep "habits" to the point of calling it "sleep" is misleading. #
- Bald eagle circling over dog park on south False Creek. Those little-bitty condo-dogs better watch out! #
- http://twitpic.com/sg6ws – Vancouver's finest keeping the Santa Parade watchers under control #

- http://twitpic.com/sg8ni – The bands never seem to play near us :( #

- http://twitpic.com/sgah1 – It's TRUE! Bait cars ARE everywhere #
- http://twitpic.com/sgb9i – What troopers, still dancing at the end of the route #
- http://twitpic.com/sgc58 – One of the few floats. Suddenly I feel like a hot chocolate. #
- http://twitpic.com/sgd19 – I wish Canadian high schools had marching bands. #bandgeek #
- http://twitpic.com/sgdws – Best float so far: Worksafe BC #
- http://twitpic.com/sgdxf – Wow this marching band is from Burnaby North #
- http://twitpic.com/sgerc – Very cool float from the Aboriginal community #
- http://twitpic.com/sgfph – Parades permit a level of personal contact normally frowned upon #
- http://twitpic.com/sgfpv – Future Olympic protestors from Scouts Canada #
- http://twitpic.com/sghj3 – This elf-yourself thing has gotten out of hand… #
- http://twitpic.com/sgl53 – The man himsELF #
- Home! The Canada Line staff was amazing at facilitating boarding the huge post-parade crowd on the trains (@SkyTrainLady @KenHardie ) #
- http://twitpic.com/sgsb2 – This was the line to get to the Canada Line platform at City Centre. #
- Thanks everyone for letting me indulge live-twitpic'ing the Santa Parade. This year Aidan really *got* it, and it was a lot of fun. #
- RT @smuttysteff: Reminder, people, awesome reinvention of Alice in Wonderland (like Wicked is to Oz) is on TV tonight & tomorrow #
- Let's spin the Wheel of Toddler Food and see what we'll be wearing tonight. #
- Me: Huh, I can't reach it — my arms are too short. Her: {Gales of laughter} Me: Yeah, that's never happened before. #
- Another Amazing Race comes to an end. An OK season this year, unhappy with the results, but the team that should have won did. #
- Was looking at the timestamps on tweets thinking Twitter must have gone blow-hole up. Then I noticed it was after 9, not 10. #NeedsSleep #
