Just a quick note, Aidan seems to love sushi. I guess it is because of the “My first book of Sushi” board book we read when he was small. I thought it was the cutest little book. Aidan has had some vegetarian sushi before, but today for lunch he had 3 pieces of Kappa Maki (cucumber roll) and 1 piece of Avacado Roll.

I opened the package and Aidan cried when he didn’t get the cucumber roll right away. I cut the pieces up into smaller pieces and he gobbled it down. In a few months I think I will try him on some fish sushi, maybe a BC or California Roll.

Anthony, Aidan and I went out for a walk today to get supper and get out of the house. It had been threatening rain the whole weekend but it didn’t start until we went out the door. I don’t think that Aidan has been under the rain canopy for his stroller since Kathy and John left to go back home.

Aidan likes the rain, and he used to like just watching it from underneath the canaopy. Not anymore. We spent the whole walk back home trying to keep Aidan from poking his head out the side of the canopy to get in the rain. In fact he looked like a dog hanging its head out the window of a car. So much so that he even had his tounge hanging out to catch the rain. We finally gave up and had the canopy only partially covering the stroller.

So, when we got home all of us were wet. Aidan from head to almost toe, and Anthony and I with wet jeans. All we could say was that Aidan is so very much a little boy.

We will see what tomorow brings.

“See Mom, I can dig the water too!”

“Sand or water, I just don’t know what I like better.”

“Oh, Mommy has the camera. Mommy take my picture please, my public wants to know.”

“Look Mommy, lots of sand in the boat makes it sink!” Posted by Picasa

So, for Mother’s Day, we went for a drive. It was a nice day, and a wonderful day for a drive. A nice, relaxing sort of day. Plus, we wanted to see how Aidan handled long-ish drives. We filled up the car and off we went to Harrison Hot Springs (shown below).

We went the “long way”, along the north side of the river. Aidan started getting hungry and cranky around Pitt Meadows so we stopped in at the public park at the base of Golden Ears. After a top-up with a bottle, and some furious swinging on the cool swing set that they had there (high seats, but quite convincing in its good construction) we hit the road again. I don’t know the distance, and we were in heavy traffic until well past Pitt Meadows, but we left Vancouver around 2pm and didn’t get to Harrison Hot Springs until 5ish.

At Harrison, we hit the beach. The beach was full but not crowded. We made our way over to the sand sculpture competition (which was the reason we went to Harrison Hot Springs!) and marvelled at the sculptures. Some of the more interesting ones are below…

After spending a few hours in Harrison, we headed back home. This time we took the TCH. We stopped for a quick bite to eat in Chilliwack and were home by 9pm. After putting the boy to bed (he eventually called it quits around 9:30) we settled in to see Terry lose Survivor :(.
